Young Vision Surf School

Montezuma‘s most fun surf instructors, the “Young Vision” guys are a perfect example of Costa Rica‘s famous Pura Vida attitude.

Young Vision’s instructors used to work for a surf school in another part of Costa Rica, but decided to strike out on their own, creating their surf school that now operates in the Montezuma area, giving private classes and working for various hotels and resorts such as Anamaya. All their instructors have now also received certification in CPR and lifesaving skills, and by the time you read this, will probably be certified nature guides as well.

A day of surfing with Young Vision is guaranteed to be a truly great day, with lots of laughter and fun in addition to the surf lessons.

The Young Vision Surf School is operated and owned by Alvaro Dormus and Manuel Cespedes.

Anamaya Surfing & Yoga Retreat

Anamaya is a yoga retreat and surf camp on a point overlooking the Montezuma area. Famous Montezuma Falls is right next door, only a five minute walk down a trail from this resort.

Surf camps are by week, with guests typically staying 1-3 weeks. These retreats start on a Saturday and end on a Saturday, and include 3 gourmet, organic meals per day.

Most of Anamaya’s surf classes are taught at Montezuma’s Playa Grande, working with Young Vision Surf School.

Montezuma Surf School with Chris Johnson

Chris Johnson runs one of the most popular surf schools in the Montezuma area, offering full surf retreat packages of various kinds, which are detailed on his website. He also works with various hotels and resorts such as Anamaya and Ylang Ylang, taking their guests for surf lessons at Playa Grande or other surf spots in the area.
